Lars Hofland

Hello onlookers. Let me introduce myself, Lars Hofland obviously, but what you probably don't know is that I've always been artistically inclined and enjoy working with my hands (as many Americans do, who now don't have careers in manufacturing and feel lost and less worthy in this modern computer age, but we can talk about that some other time).

After many breaks from college and changes in majors, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BFA, emphasis in Metalsmithing. The Photography happened along the way.

My first metals class was at the University of Oregon in 1997. As with any subject of study, one becomes more aware of it around them. I never thought of it as a "future", but 6 years and many majors (mostly architecture) later I found myself right back in it. People and peers seemed to genuinely like it so, why not.

After graduation, I was honored to have been offered a job at NAU teaching metalsmithing. Three semesters later my itch had to be scratched and I up and left Flagstaff for Oregon (Blame it on my Army Brat upbringing to move all the time). I have been teaching at Oregon State University for three terms now while getting my own studio in order.

Now, lets see if I can start paying back my college loans with this WEBSITE, Whoohoo! Thanks for your interest.
